Creating HR Shook

I didn't choose the HR life, the HR life chose me. In reality I never even considered HR until I ended up in a common predicament most Millennials face in which I was over educated in a field that didn't matter. In a last effort to get a job I enrolled in an HR graduate program  which promised employment. I went into it looking for a job, not realizing that I would fall in love.

School was just the beginning. Then when I started my internship I realized that HR was a perfect combination of psychology and making money. Learning how to motivate and engage people in their work to achieve a positive outcome for organizations as well as a fulfilling career to the person was what pushed me to learn more and do better.

Wanting to learn even more I got my Master's in HR Management, using this outlet as a way of talking to fellow HR enthusiasts and do academic research in the areas I was most interested in.

HR Shook started when I realized that unlike myself, most people actually disliked HR, had a terrible experiences or just completely misunderstood what we did. But I knew there were others like me, who swooned over the career they, for the most part, didn't choose either. 

HR Shook started as mostly a meme Instagram account, using comedy and real talk to connect HR professionals in a common place. It turned into a community of like minded individuals all with a shared passion HR.

HR Shook is continuing to grow and I can't wait to see what happens next!
